Artist portfolio - Aine Scannell

When it comes to subject or content - the artwork I make is about being human and how we relate to one another, to our environment and ourselves. It tends to be hybrid in nature – technically, subjectively and metaphorically.

While studying in Spain for an M.A. in European Fine Art, (in painting) I began to realise the amazing possibilities that printmaking would offer me in my art. Consequently following my graduation I learned a range of printmaking techniques, at various schools in London. This I concluded with another Masters degree in Printmaking at Wimbledon College of Arts, in 2000.

I’ve won national and international awards, the most recent being for one of my watercolour monotype prints at the Royal Scottish Academy.
On two occasions I’ve had the privilege to exhibit at the prestigious Krakow International Print Triennial in Poland. Of course I’ve shown work in lots of galleries and museums within the UK too. More recently, since I moved up to Scotland in 2008 I’ve shown at various galleries and museums in Fife.
